Kia's assembly plant in Pesquería, Nuevo León, is projected to surpass 300,000 vehicles manufactured by the end of 2026, according to Mexico Business News. That would be the facility's first year at that annual volume in its 10-year operating history.
The update arrives as Kia reviews how to lift production in Nuevo León for new export markets, including Europe. In a Milenio interview, Kia Mexico managing director Horacio Chávez said the company is evaluating productivity, output levels and the opportunities created by a wider export map.
Why it matters
For Pesquería, the number is less about a single record than about the plant's role in Kia's next manufacturing phase. The EV3 is the first fully electric Kia vehicle made in Mexico, and the company says it is currently aimed mainly at the Mexican market while it studies other Latin American opportunities.
Milenio reports that the EV3 currently has 26.5 percent Mexican supplier content. Kia plans to increase local content as production matures, although Chávez did not set a five-year target because some specialized components remain difficult to localize.
